Strong Bad's CG4AP Episode 5 Video Walkthrough Part 1

Hey, the first part of the SBCG4AP Episode 5: 8-Bit Is Enough Video Walkthrough is online. The next part is uploading as I type this and the next one is converting. It should hopefully be all online within the week, but I can't promise anything.

As always, double click the video for comments, the checklist and the next part (eventually).

Also, I purchased a capture card for my computer which should be here soon, which means the video walkthrough I planned to do next has changed to a different one (which I will keep a secret as well until I record and upload the first part). The capture card won't record HD videos, but they'll still be helpful and clear.

Thanks for reading and watching.

Strong Bad Episode 4 Walkthrough and Episode 5 Video Walkthrough

Just wanted to let everyone know that last night I offically started work on the Strong Bad Episode 4 text walkthrough. It's not very far along, but it should be finished relatively soon, probably in the next week or so.

Also, I finished recording the final Strong Bad episode this morning: 8-Bit Is Enough! It's split up into ten parts, similarly to episodes 2 and 3 and is converting as I write this. Unfortunately, I'm not sure when the episode will be on YouTube but hopefully I can convert a bunch in the next few days.

Just wanted to give everyone a status update on the SB series.

Strong Bad's CG4AP Episode 1 Video Walkthrough Part 1

I happened to find the Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People series while browsing through the WiiWare. Having watched a few videos, I became interested in the game and downloaded the PC demo. I liked it and soon after, downloaded the entire season. After playing through it several times, I decided "Why not make a video walkthrough for it?". So, I fired up Episode 1 and Fraps then proceeded to record a video walkthrough of the game! This part, which is the first part, covers getting through the house and taking care of some stuff for 100%. Below is the video:

If you'd like, you can double click on the video and watch it on YouTube, which contains a checklist for following the walkthrough plus the following parts as video responses and the comments for this video.

Way of The Samurai: Kenji's Tale Chapter 1

My first fanfic came after playing numerous hours of Way of the Samurai, which focuses on a small town in the middle of a civil war over the future of the Samurai. I had been a fan of the game for almost ten years and played it through numerous times. While replaying it with my fianceé, I began to wonder what Kenji might be thinking of while he was in Rokkotsu Pass. From there, I decided to write this story, which is pretty much a novelization of the game. The game, however, lends you incredible freedom to do practically whatever you want, so it also gives me a ton of space to work with. This first chapter basically sets up the story for the later chapters, each of which I hope to devote to a specific ending and/or title. It describes Kenji's backstory and his eventual arrival to Rokkotsu Pass.

Like I mentioned, future chapters will all be devoted to an ending or a title until all endings and titles have been obtained.

Loneliness

This poem came to be one night while I was reading the news online. It had an article about a man over 100 years old, who painted pictures of what life was like when he was growing up in the late 1800s. I began to become curious and searched wikipedia for supercentenarians. Each one I read about got more depressing until I reached a man named Yukichi Chuganji. Around the same time, my itunes shuffle turned to this really depressing song. I began to think about how incredibly lonely this man must have been, living for so long and watching everyone and everything around him change. All the people he knew were long gone including his family. As I looked at the picture, I saw an incredible sadness in him. The loneliness spread into me and I became so overwhelmed that I wrote this poem.

The second chapter came about quite a while later. I was reading my previous work when I came upon Loneliness. I realized how much had changed since I wrote that poem, my then-girlfriend now living with me and taking away my loneliness for good. I felt so compelled that I wrote a "sequel" and posted it as a second chapter.

A Beary Jerry Superhero Story Chapter 1

When I wrote this story, it was more of an inside joke between me and my fianceé. She jokingly called me Jerbear, so I thought it would be funny to write a story about a superhero named Jerbear, full of inside jokes between me and my fianceé. Yet, at the same time, I wanted to make it funny for everyone else, which I hope it accomplished. The result is this story, which takes place in the fictional city of Arche.

An Adventure of Modern Day

This poem is officially dedicated to my beautiful fianceé, whom this poem is mostly about. This one is about the night me and my fianceé really connected and hung out for the first time. We had met a few nights prior, however, we really didn't have much time to ourselves to get to know each other. However, we were both invited to a mutual friend's party (who we credit to hooking us up). When we met up, we soon began to hang out together and we hit it off. Then we watched as everyone around us became like kids, us being like the parents. Although everything around us soon turned to chaos, I still had a ton of fun hanging out with my soon-to-be girlfriend that night. This poem is about that night, "An Adventure of Modern Day".

Free to Fly

My next poetic inspiration came while I was at work. I stepped outside for a moment and took in the beauty of the sky, dazing off and imagining myself flying through the clouds. Unfortunately, my boss had the same idea and caught me in the midst of an aerial fantasy, chewing me. The beauty of the scene inspired me to write the poem on my next break. After a while, I decided it may be worth publishing, so I typed it up and uploaded it.

Imminent Demise

The very same day I wrote "Dream Girl", I wrote another poem based on another dream I had, only on the previous night. The mood is a tad more frantic, as the dream was about the destruction of the planet Earth. I have since long forgotten the dream this poem was associated with too, but I do remember that everything was exactly like it was in the past, which was both happy and sad at the same time. I also remember almost feeling all knowing, since I had come from the future. It happened almost exactly like the destruction of Namek on DBZ though.

Dream Girl

Back around the time I had started Super Vice President Village Monster, I had a dream about getting a girlfriend and the incredible ecstacy of knowing there would be someone there who cares, although it soon faded when I realized it was a dream. I now believe that it was almost a prophecy to my current relationship, using dream metaphors to show me my future life with my fianceé. I can no longer remember the dream, but I still remember the feeling I got from it: the one I feel every day now when I'm with my fianceé. Dream Girl was a poem written about that dream.

This work was the first work I published that was reviewed and favorited. People seemed to enjoy the romantic undertones.

The great truth I realized, mentioned in the author's notes, was later revealed in the poem "Loneliness" because this dream made me realize how incredibly lonely I was.

To read it, check out http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2498302/1/Dream_Girl.

Parental Units

My true first piece of published work was a poem entitled "Parental Units". I'm not exactly proud of this one though, it was simply a poem I hastily wrote after government class and decided to stick on Fictionpress, since I had been a fan of both it and the sister site Fanfiction.net for some time and wanted to post something online. It's supposed to be a metaphorical crack at the faults of the government, comparing them to parents, although it's blatantly obvious what it's about, especially given the ending line.

Although it was my first work published, I tend to ignore that, as everyone else has ignored the poem for almost 6 years now. I'd rather credit that to Super Vice President Village Monster! Special Edition, which I am actually pretty proud of. This one I enjoy, though more for nostalgia than anything else.

To read it, head to http://www.fictionpress.com/s/1598857/1/Parental_Units.

My Pokemon Ranch Review

My last post talked about the impact and memories that Pokemon creates. This one is an official review for the Wiiware 'game': My Pokemon Ranch! It is available for download on the Wiiware section of the Wii Shop Channel for 1000 points.

First of all, I want to say that for all of you out there who are looking for a fun new Pokemon game to try or you're first starting on Pokemon, this game is not for you. If you don't happen to have a copy of Pokemon Diamond or Pearl (not Platinum as of this blog the Platinum patch hasn't come out yet in English), then don't bother with this game.

My Pokemon Ranch is Generation IV's Pokemon storage application, similar to how Pokemon Box was for Generation III and Pokemon Stadium 2 was for Generation I and II. However, this time around, they've changed a few things. Some for the better, some for the worst. The storage apps for the previous three generations have been predominately for storing Pokemon only, having little to no gameplay (with Gen I & II's only being an addition to the main game). This time around, they tried to make it more of a video game than before. This makes it a little bit more fun.

You start off with a small ranch owned by Hayley, your main contact in this game. Her dream is to fill the ranch with tons of Pokemon to play with. She'll bring one a day, which at the end of your play session she will give you a vague description of and ask if you'd like that one. You can answer no, prompting her to describe another Pokemon and if you say no again she'll automatically pick one herself. You can then add up to 5 Miis to help Hayley tend to the ranch and play with the Pokemon. The ranch starts off small, holding only 20 Pokemon, but once you hit a certain number of pokemon, you'll prompt Hayley to upgrade the ranch, which takes a day to do. Once the ranch as upgraded, the number of Pokemon it can hold increases as well as certain other benefits (such as getting a number of toys per day, more miis can tend to the ranch). This will continue until you reach the max ranch level and can deposit 1000 Pokemon.

The ranch is somewhat boring and is more like a screensaver than anything else. Once you unlock Free Mode, you can move Pokemon and Miis around as you please, dragging them to other Pokemon and toys. Otherwise, you'll be limited to watching them wander around on their own. Every now and then, the Pokemon on the ranch will all pose together. You can take pictures of the Pokemon, your Miis, pretty much whatever you're watching at the time and send them to your friends, which is pretty cool. However, this is about all you can do if you're only playing on Wii. Although the interactions can be somewhat humerous at times, it's rather boring on its own. Still, watching Groudon use Earthquake every 2 seconds and constantly make the Miis and Pokemon around him 'faint' is rather amusing. Keep in mind though that if you don't have a DS, this is what you are limited to.

The main reason for this game is the DS connectivity. If you have a copy of Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, you can link up to this game and deposit Pokemon. As of this writing, Platinum is not compatible with My Pokemon Ranch, although there is a patch if you're living in Japan. Unfortunately, My Pokemon Ranch contains one colossal error: any Pokemon deposited by your DS game can only be withdrawn by the same copy of the game. That means if you want to start over, you better have some trustworthy friends with lots of box space. I seriously don't understand why they would limit this, as the previous storage applications were used predominately by people starting over. But, regardless, the game does have many perks.

By connecting your DS to My Pokemon Ranch, you can deposit your Pokemon to live on the ranch, which will then be converted into the Mii-like Pokemon that wander around the ranch. You can play with them and watch them the same way you can with Hayley's Pokemon. It's great if you need the extra storage. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Whenever you connect your DS, it autoreads your Pokedex and saves the information. It then posts three Pokemon on the BBS: a board that contains Pokemon Hayley wants you to transfer over from Diamond or Pearl. They're always Pokemon you have yet to obtain and by clicking on their wanted ad on the BBS, it will show you exactly where and when you can get these Pokemon. For any Pokemon with additional tricks to catching it, it will explain them to you. This is an incredible addition and really helps give you the drive to complete your Pokedex. It also tells you how your Pokedex is filling out since the last time you connected. Plus, if you have more than one copy of Diamond or Pearl, it will do the same for that copy as well, although it will only put one more wanted ad up for that copy. Be forewarned though, posting Pokemon for another game will result in Hayley chewing you out.

Also, if Hayley happens to have brought certain Pokemon to the ranch, whenever you complete a wanted ad, she'll offer to trade you for that pokemon. Sometimes the trades are completely ridiculous (Gible for Pikachu), but if you decline, she'll keep the Pokemon and the next time you complete a wanted ad, she'll offer the same Pokemon to you for the new one you just deposited. Two of these Pokemon are ones you'll only ever be able to get from events (or Ranger): Phione and Mew. Yes, that's right, after 10 years you can finally get a fully legit Mew outside of events!

The graphics, for those that care, are similar to Mii's. They're small, cartoony versions of the Pokemon you've caught and uploaded to My Pokemon Ranch. Plus, it keeps all variants your Pokemon may have (Shiny, M/F, Rotom Forms, etc).

Overall, I think this game is pretty cool. If you've got Diamond and Pearl, pick it up and check it out, if nothing else, to complete your Pokedex and get Mew. For those of you Wii players out there who want a Pokemon game to play, this is not for you. If you have Platinum, be forwarned, this game is not compatible. For those who want to deposit all their Pokemon and start over, sorry but this one's not for you.

Pokemon Experiences

Pokemon is one of the most addictive RPGs in the history of video games. It's revolutionary style of gameplay and mastery of both single and multiplayer not only made it one of the most successful franchies and an overnight smash hit but also led to an entire nation of fanatic pokelovers. Most kids who grew up with a Game Boy had played it and those who didn't had heard of it and knew a few pokemon fanatics. It propelled the Game Boy to new heights and was the single reason the Link Cable sold well enough to continue production. Although many had lamented its blatant commercialism and not-so-subtle catch phrase "Gotta Catch 'Em All", there was no denying its impact on the gaming industry.

For me, I first heard of this franchise when Red and Blue first hit shelves here in the United States. Everyone was talking about it. My friends all got Game Boys and copies of the game and played it every day. One guy even bribed people with his copy. He would ask for something, then if unsatisfied with your response, reply with "I'll let you borrow Red for a while!" It became so large school faculty began talking about "Pokemans" and how us kids were going crazy over it.

Unfortunately for me, my Game Boy's screen had a fallout with my foot one unlucky blackout, so my curiosity was quenched through watching the TV show and reading walkthroughs online. I read every day, even though I did not own the game. I had become addicted without playing it! Such is the impact of Pokemon. My carpool friends all used to bring it with them, passing around their Game Boy through the car ride home, finally letting me play. However, they soon became tired of my constant Pidgey capturing and limited my playtime after a while.

Finally, the day came. I had saved up enough money and bought a used Game Boy Pocket from Funcoland and a new copy of Blue from Target. From that moment on, there was not a single AAA battery in the house that wasn't dead or in my Game Boy. I played constantly, searching for new Pokemon to capture, refining my team, etc. I would trade Pokemon with my friends, battling them to see who was superior. My Hall of Fame soon became overloaded. I later went on to purchase Red and a link cable, using my old Game Boy to trade (even though I couldn't see). I captured all 150 multiple times, building better and better teams. My constant drain to batteries around the house also led to my birthday present: a Game Boy AC Adaptor! I was officially a fanatic.

Pokemon also led to a few instances of fights and getting in trouble, however. People at school were fighting over Pokemon moves, where you can find them, which one was better. I remember my friend Robert got into a yelling match with another kid because Primeape beat Hitmonlee in the anime and he swore his Hitmonlee would beat any Primeape any day. I remember one time getting lectured by the principal because me and a friend kept the staff waiting on back to school night because we were in the middle of a trade. My friend and I once fought because I traded him a pokemon he wanted to catch on his own.

But there's no denying Pokemon's success or the fun times you'll have playing it. Pokemon creates a ton of memories (memories I'm making as I type this!), some good, some bad. But when you think of Pokemon, you'll always remember those times you had playing it or those people you knew who went nuts over it. I know for me, whenever I hear the name, I'll always remember watching the show, playing it on the way home from school and playing it with my fianceé. Do you have any Pokemon memories? If so, what are they?

Super Vice President Village Monster! Special Edition Chapter 12 + Bonus 2

Chapter twelve finally brings to light my original plan for the ending of the series. It deals with the defeat of the final ninja Mumbanou and the result of their plan to overthrow the ninjas.

This chapter explains the random title, which until this chapter was written, was meant only to be a random title that referenced several naming clichés. The super was mainly from the Super Nintendo style of naming all their games "Super _____". Vice President was a random elected official, like a boss in a video game. Village Monster came from the fact that so many games had a small village terrorized by a monster. Special Edition came not because of added content, but because everything comes out with a special edition, which may contain a few extra things usually not worth the extra money you're paying. However, writing this chapter gave me a great idea on how the title should be explained: as a nickname for the final ninja!

After the ending there are two bonus chapters which contain ideas I originally had for the story, but decided not to put them in. The first bonus chapter was based on the idea I came up with while writing chapter eight: killing the heroes off. While I still wanted to kill Ninja Tupac Frog and Mary Berry off, my original ending (which I liked much better) conflicted with killing Jim and Richie off. So, this alternate ending focuses on what the ending would have been like had I killed them both off.

The second bonus ending is an idea I came up with while writing chapter three. It simply shows Richie and Jim paying for the deaths of the ninjas.

Super Vice President Village Monster! Special Edition Chapter 11

Chapter eleven is where things finally start to come to a close. Mary and Richie head back to Jefferson's to take out Tobal, the purple ninja. Unfortunately, this chapter marks the end of Mary's usefulness and we see Richie take on Tobal alone. This chapter further accentuates Richie's brains over brawn characteristic, which if Jim had been in the same situation, would have resulted in failure.

Although I had planned for Mary to die doing something useful for the two, it didn't end up this way. He was becoming useful all the way up until his death, but died due to his weakness and fear. He did end up becoming invaluable though.

Unfortunately, I semi-broke my earlier plan of having no direct link with the defeat of the Angry Ninja Lawyers. In my eyes, Tobal's defeat was at his own hands, but I admit, can be viewed as a direct result of Richie's doing.

This chapter is a lot less random than the previous ones, mostly due to the serious undertones due to Mary's death and Richie's desperation. But at the same time, it has the same kind of humor that the first ten chapters have, just not as glaringly obvious.

Super Vice President Village Monster! Chapter 10

Chapter ten follows our heroes trying to recoup after the death of Ninja Tupac Frog and the defeat of Ted, the black ninja.

Another new concept was introduced in this chapter that is further explained in the final chapter. Each Angry Ninja Lawyer would be incredibly angry about something in their lives. They were angry before, however, there was no apparent reason, they were just angry. We also get to see Mary being useful for a change. He not only gives us a good lead that is correct, but he's responsible for taking out Ted.

This chapter also sets up a major plot twist that only gets resolved right before taking down the final ninja: Jim gets himself kidnapped. Due to Richie's eyesight, there's seemingly no possible way to beat the ninjas. However, Mary's usefulness will just have to continue.

Super Vice President Village Monster! Special Edition Chapter 9

Chapter nine in the series, which focuses on Peeman the yellow ninja, introduced a new concept to the series that added to the dramatic feel of the later chapters. For a while, I tried to figure out how the characters could help with Richie and Jim's quest to take Jefferson's back. Jenny obviously became a villain, but what about Ninja Tupac Frog and Mary Berry? Obviously Mary was trying to help and Ninja Tupac Frog was tagging along, but neither had been of much use to the two. So, while I was writing this chapter, the idea of not only killing off the villains but the heroes as well came to light. That way, the characters could help out in a particularly big way and still contribute to the story. The first one to die was Ninja Tupac Frog, who contributed to the idea I talked about in chapter seven's summary: Richie and Jim were not to be the ones to defeat the ninja lawyers.

This chapter also references the generous donation given in chapter four, which turns out to be given by Ninja Tupac Frog. It was an idea I had from the start, but couldn't think of a way to put it in the story.

Also, Kenji and Dojima are from the video game Way of the Samurai, of which I have posted a fanfic for on www.fanfiction.net. The "just a box" is an obvious reference to Metal Gear Solid.

Super Vice President Village Monster! Special Edition Chapter 8

Chapter eight was the first chapter since chapter two that I wrote in its entirety and published on the same day, which is also true for the rest of the series from this point on. This chapter follows Richie and Jim as they take out Elena, the green Angry Ninja Lawyer.

The idea that Jenny was one of the Angry Ninja Lawyers came while I was debating over the future of the story. After reading chapter five over, I began to ponder why she would need maple syrup. Then, the idea that she was one of the ninja lawyers and that it could be a trap came to mind. There were more pressing issues at the time, but when I came back to write chapter eight, the idea returned and I made it part of the story. Her "plan" was more fleshed out and maple syrup became Ninja Tupac Frog's weakness. I felt that it added a new way to shock readers, rather than the usual crazy antics of the two. It also added very well to the storyline, I felt.

Her death is obviously a reference to Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The idea came due to weeks of playing Zelda with my fianceé prior to writing this chapter. Also, I figured that Mary reading the story online and giving the information to the two heroes would not only explain his usual behind the times info, but add a humorous fourth-wall-breaking segment to the story.

Super Vice President Village Monster! Special Edition Chapter 7

The hilarious thing about chapter seven is that it was partially written around the same time as chapter six, but due to the split I was pondering, remained unfinished until January 5th, the date that I finished this and wrote the following chapters.

After almost six months of pondering, I decided that this would be the beginning of the end and that from this chapter onward, each chapter would focus on taking out an Angry Ninja Lawyer, up until the final chapter: chapter twelve.

I wanted to make it so that none of the Angry Ninja Lawyers were beaten or killed directly by the actions of Richie and Jim. At the time, I imagined that if Richie and Jim had anything to do with their deaths or incarcerations, any supporters or survivors of the Angry Ninja Lawyers could potentially come back and legally get their revenge. It also added to the hilarity of the story, as each ninja is taken out in a different random way (which very much defines the way the story is written).

You'll also notice that after this chapter, the story starts to take a dramatic turn. This was mainly because I started focusing on the story more than the randomness, which is the reverse of the first few chapters. This makes for a somewhat different feel, but it still has that hilarity and random feel to it. Also, this chapter starts referencing previous chapters jokes, something that continues on into the final chapter and that I thought was a funny addition to the chapters.

Super Vice President Village Monster! Chapter 6

Chapter six was written similarly to chapter three. It contains a surprise twist, which results in the characters of the story actually getting upset and reverting the changes. In reality, I was torn between two possible ways to continue the story and wrote chapter 6 to be a funny distraction.

Like chapter five, I had partially written this chapter down and forgotten about it, predominately due to the aformentioned split I was pondering. I was wanting to progress the story along, but was unsure whether I wanted to prolong the series by having the duo escape from the Angry Ninja Lawyers and gather more friends, or if it was time to start attacking the Angry Ninja Lawyers and taking them out. I felt that chapter six was funny in it's own way and distracting enough to give me time to think about where to take the series, yet at the same time I felt it was just an excuse and a throwaway chapter. In the end, after finishing it (ironically on the first of this year), I actually laugh and enjoy this chapter, moreso than some of the others.

Super Vice President Village Monster! Special Edition Chapter 5

Chapter five was the first chapter where I stopped and truly thought about where I wanted the story to start heading. It introduces us to Jenny, a friend of mine who, like Mike, read the story and asked to be a part of it. I tried to make Jenny the voice of reason as well as the sane character of the series. Hey, there's usually a crazy character in a series of sane characters, so you can consider Jenny to be the sane person in a series of crazy characters I suppose. Although I never really meant it to in the beginning, she also starts the movement against the Angry Ninja Lawyers. Originally I only meant for her errand to be another one of the crazy elements of the story, maybe even introduce another character later on.

We also learn in this chapter that Ninja Tupac Frog's real name is Hass Avocado. This was a request of Mike's, who wanted it to be his name in the story. I made it his real name, preferring his former name, since he requested it after chapter four.

This chapter also took the longest to publish, eleven months after chapter four. This was mostly due in part to writers block, as I felt that the series was going nowhere and had no idea where to take it. I had written the first half up to the revelation of Ninja Tupac Frog's true name around when chapter four had been published, but couldn't figure out how I wanted to progress the chapter. I stopped and thought up some ideas (none of which I liked), then eventually the story slipped out of mind and was forgotten. However, the story came back to mind sometime in April of 2009. I reread what I had wrote and began to think of ideas again. This time, I actually came up with the current ending and around mid May, typed it out and published it online.

Super Vice President Village Monster! Special Edition Chapter 4

The fourth chapter of the series, which introduces us to Ninja Tupac Frog, was primarily written for my friend Mike, who we've nicknamed Ninja Tupac Frog. He got the nickname from me, due to him constantly running around calling himself a ninja and jumping on things. But since the way he did so reminded me of a frog, and the fact that he had a white rag in his pocket (which reminded me of Tupac for some reason), I jokingly called him Ninja Tupac Frog. He liked the name and it stuck.

How he came to be in the story was a request on his part to be included. After reading the story, he wanted to be a part of it so I decided to include him in the next chapter, which happened to be chapter four. I wrote it out, then had him proofread it. After he gave his laughing approval, I put it next to the computer to be typed. It was a good couple of weeks though before it became officially typed and online.

Chapter four also sets up a cliffhanger, which is another friend of mine who asked to be in the series who will be introduced in chapter five. If you'd like to read it, check out http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2483440/4/Super_Vice_President_Village_Monster.
